This is the book I re-read every few years and never tire of. It's the book I give as a gift to those who enjoy reading. I love this book in part because it reflects parts of myself that I like; wonder, joy, adventurousness. I've seen this book referred to as Midwestern Protestant magical realism, a characterization with which I wholeheartedly concur. I'm not normally all that into magical realism, but this book does it right.
