David Sedaris is funny, but I think he's funniest when he's talking about his life and experiences. This collection begins with "The Santaland Diaries," his account of working as an elf at Macy's. It's hilarious. The other stories, none of which are autobiographical, are funny but not hilarious. Fortunately "The Santaland Diaries" is the longest piece in the book. Four stars for that story, but three for the book as a whole.
