The Believers - Zoë Heller I surprised myself a bit with this one. I've lately started abandoning books that have unlikeable characters in them. This book has pretty much nothing but unlikeable characters, yet the writing was good enough that I was engaged, and wanted to see what would happen to the characters.
Some of the characters definitely tend toward caricatures, but with just enough interior dialogue to make them not quite cookie-cutter.
I found some of the situations and responses rather unrealistic, but again, I was able to stay engaged.
Three stars seems just right. Fine, readable, but I'm not terribly impressed.
